"PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - A powerful earthquake hit the impoverished country of Haiti on Tuesday, collapsing the presidential palace and raising fears of substantial casualties in what the country’s U.S. ambassador called “a major disaster.”
President René Garcia Préval was reported to be safe, but Radio Metropole of Port-au-Prince, the capital, quoted a government official as saying there were “certainly dozens of deaths.”
A reporter for the Reuters news agency in Port-au-Prince said he saw dozens of dead and injured people in the rubble, which blocked streets in the city. "

Montana Hotel is being evacuated (One of the major & nicest Hotels in town)- Hillary Clinton Secretary of State offering full support to Haitians in this time of need.- Wyclef Jean the Famous Singer was talking over the phone to Haiti when the earthquake hit. Reports reading text saying death of a young rapper part of his foundation, wants confirmation, pleads for help to find families & friends. “One of the darkest nights in history of Haiti”- No Electrical Service, No Phone Service.
