Every year MYF accepts grant applications from charities. The band goes over all the applications and decides which charities best fall within the mission statement of MYF. Certain band members have interests outside of the environment as well, such as animal rescue and helping underpriveleged youth.
In 2009 , MYF gave away over $100,000 to 15 different charities.
We recently issued grants to the following organizations/programs.

2009 MYF Grant Recipients:
- ReefCheck - Trains volunteers to carry out reef check surveys -- online papers and manuals, details of sites and results.
- Earth Force - Award-winning, international education program that involves young people in hands-on river education, conservation, and restoration projects.
- Santa Monica Bay Keeper - Works to protect and restore the Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay and adjacent waters through enforcement, fieldwork, and community action
- Save The Waves Coalition - Save The Waves Coalition is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of surf breaks and surf communities
- World Bicycle Relief - Our mission is to provide access to independence and livelihood through The Power of Bicycles.
- DCFS/UCLA EASE-IN Program - The program's mission is to "enhance the quality of life of Pre-Independent Living Program (ILP) Youth and their foster families"
- The Center for Animal Rescue and Adoption - The mission of The Center for Animal Rescue and Adoption is to save more animals through proactive, progressive leadership
