Today my favorite Incubus song is Talk Shows on Mute. I was far from mute in the car on the way home today. I think I was singing louder than my radio :)

That is a good point Anette. Cold showers are nice when its crazy hot outside here too. Unfortunately Chicago's weather has not been consistent with the seasons. It can snow, rain and be 80 degrees here all in one day :)

another way to both save money and protect the environment, is to take cold showers, instead of hot showers each day - and it is healthy too :)

RECYCLE/REUSE

There are many things you can do to help the environment. My personal experience this past year was a wake up call when I had a bag full of batteries. I had no idea on how to dispose of them so I did some research and found out that stores like Batteries Plus will take your old batteries and reuse them. Batteries contain toxic metals such as mercury, alkaline and lead acid; all bad for the environment. I also had a weird amount of old cell phones. Why? I have no clue, but I found them in a drawe… Continue

This is why.....

I'm grateful... for my children who continue to put a huge smile on my face each day, for my friends who stick by me and give me ample room to be myself and be a bit of an oddball, for some family who love me unconditionally, for my health and happiness and last but certainly not least for this enormous ball of energy we live and thrive on. I love the earth and will take care of it so long as I am on it!

First-of-Its-Kind Map Details the Height of the Globe's Forests

ScienceDaily (July 21, 2010) — Using NASA satellite data, scientists have produced a first-of-its kind map that details the height of the world's forests. Although there are other local- and regional-scale forest canopy maps, the new map is the first that spans the entire globe based on one uniform method.

Climate bill in doubt as Democrats delay action

U.S. Senate Democrats said on Thursday they will wait until September at the earliest to take up broad climate-change legislation, a potentially fatal blow to the White House push to curb greenhouse gases. The delay means Democrats have little time to advance the complex legislation amid intense political pressure in the weeks before November congressional elections. It also could derail global climate change initiatives, as the world's major economies and greenhouse gas emitters insist the United States play a leading role.
